Foundation
In 2012, Sylvain Bourgeois, engineer and business manager with a strong experience in the watch manufacturing, decided to launch an new Swiss watch brand in Neuchâtel, in collaboration with Marc Corven, specialist in marketing and management in companies.
In October 2012, they founded the company LuxRod SA, which owned the brand ROD ORIGINAL DESIGN OF SWITZERLAND.
Founders
Sylvain Bourgeois began his career in 1994 at Rolex SA in Geneva in research and development and later also in production management.
After nine years, he joined the family business and he took part in achieving famous watch movements as Harry Winston’s Opus 10. He is also credited with the concept of De Grisogono Meccanico DG.
For five years, he was teaching watch engineering at the Technical School of La Vallée de Joux.
Marc Corven began his career in the watch industry in 1991, at Seiko Yema (France).
In 1997, he becomes Chef Financial Officier at Mauboussin group. Right arm of Richard Mille, he develops products and sales network around the
world. Three years later, they create a company of consultancy and marketing, which designs and manufactures “Private Label” watches.
In 2005, he settles down to Dubaï and opens a marketing company for watches, jewellery and writing instruments. In 2007, he is named General Manager of Al Sayegh Jewellery in Abu Dhabi, a chain of stores for which he sets up the strategy of development.
In 2012, rich of varied experiences, he starts the brand ROD ORIGINAL DESIGN of Switzerland in Neuchâtel, in collaboration with Sylvain Bourgeois.
Design
Rodolphe Cattin is a well know watch designer from years with a long experience. Born in Porrentruy, he started his career at the age of 20 by working at Omega, then Tissot. He built his reputation from 1984 when he was working by Longines with his famous watch collection «Rodolphe by Longines», which have been a great success with more than 60'000 samples sold from each model.
In 1996, he launched his own brand which have been bought in 2005 by the «Frank Muller Group» based in Geneva. 14 years later, in 2010, he established the brand «Manufacture Rodolphe Cattin» with his new partner Thomas Meyer.
In 2012, Rodolphe Cattin joined LuxRod SA and draw the wonderful watch collection of ROD ORIGINAL DESIGN of Switzerland. The «ROD» in the watch brand name is a reference to his name and great work.
Development
The three following years has been spend to develop the watch collection, the commercial network and the company itself by increasing its share capital in several steps.
In 2018, the company moved its head office from Neuchâtel to Lausanne nearby the lake of Geneva (Léman's lake) to get closer to new business development opportunities.
Future
LuxRod SA is now putting all its efforts to develop new watch collections, and also its international commercial network.
